For such a short month, February was busy!
2nd: Travelled to Gloucester Cathedral for my second time playing music from the Harry Potter films with the International Film Orchestra.
10th: Draco Duo (the cello and piano group my wife and I play in) performed in Newport's Riverfront Theatre for the Lunar New Year. My wife artistfully arranged a number of classic Chinese songs as well as two Cantopop classics - my favourite being Under The Lion Rock.
15th: this marked my first teaching work at the university, marking the second-year composition students' coursework. I find teaching at this level extremely inspiring and I admire their creativity!
21st+22nd: my critical edition of Bax's Spring Fire was workshopped, performed, and recorded. It was a delight meeting the orchestra and John Wilson and I can't wait to hear it on Radio 3 in the coming months! I hope to hear the piece at the Proms one day. This week marked the culmination of the entire project, with only a few corrections to issue before the scores can go on sale.
27th: the first rehearsal of the University's New Music Ensemble - three student pieces and a work by Saariaho to work on.
28th: performed for the Undergraduate Composers' Concert. A great selection of pieces and lots of passion coming through.
